FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The questions publishers, authors, AI teams and businesses ask us most.
Translation
Which languages do you work in?
Turkish and English are our in-house languages, in both directions. For German, Spanish and French we work with vetted native-speaker literary translators and quote per language pair.
Can we see the quality before committing?
Yes. We translate the first ~500 words free of charge and deliver within 3–5 business days. For AI projects we start with a small paid pilot.
Do you use AI in literary translation?
Our premium package is translated entirely by people. In the hybrid package an AI first draft is revised end to end by a human literary translator. We always tell you which method we use, so you can disclose it wherever your publisher or platform requires.
Do I need the translation rights?
Yes. Before we start, we check that you hold the translation rights, or that the rights holder has given permission. If your book is under contract with a publisher, the contract decides who can license translations.
How do you keep a long book consistent?
For every book we keep a glossary of character names, places and recurring terms, plus a short style note. You approve a sample chapter before the full translation starts.
Who edits the translation?
In the premium package a native-speaker editor reads the whole translation and a proofreader does a final pass. In the hybrid package the human literary translator revises the AI draft end to end; there is no separate editing stage.
AI & LLM services
What do you do for AI teams?
We write, translate, evaluate and annotate Turkish and English data for language models, such as instruction and dialogue data, localized benchmarks, preference rankings and safety reviews. Native speakers do the work and a second linguist reviews it.
Can you work in our annotation platform?
Yes. We can work inside your own tools and accounts, or deliver JSONL or CSV files, whichever suits your pipeline.
How do you keep data quality consistent?
We start with a paid pilot to calibrate against your guidelines. In production one linguist does each item and a second reviews it; we track agreement and raise unclear guideline cases with you instead of guessing.
Will you sign our NDA or data-processing agreement?
Yes. We review and sign non-disclosure and data-processing agreements, use your data only for your project and delete files at the end on request.
Process
How long does a full book take?
A 60,000-word novel usually takes 8–12 weeks, including editing and your review rounds. We agree the schedule in writing before we start.
Is our material kept confidential?
Yes. Only the linguists on your project see your texts or data, we use them only for your project, and we sign non-disclosure agreements on request.
Pricing & payment
How do I pay?
After you accept a quote we send you a personal payment link. You pay by card through iyzico’s secure checkout on entegretercume.com, our Turkish site, which processes payments for both of our brands. We never see your card details.
Which currency do you invoice in?
International clients pay in US dollars. Every project is quoted in writing before you commit, and quotes exclude any taxes that may apply. Turkish clients can pay in Turkish lira.
Can I pay in stages?
Yes. A typical plan for a book is 40% at the start, 30% when the translation is delivered and 30% on final delivery.
For publishers
Can you prepare a longer sample for a submission?
Yes. The first ~500 words are free. Longer samples, such as the first chapter or a chapter selection for a rights submission, are quoted per word, together with an English synopsis and reader’s report if you need them.
Can you help with a TEDA translation grant application?
We prepare the English materials that publishers usually need for a TEDA application (the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s translation subsidy programme), such as a synopsis and a sample translation. The application itself and the decision are made by the publisher and the Ministry.
For businesses
How are business translations priced?
Per project. Send us the files or a description through the contact form and we reply with a quote based on volume, subject matter and deadline.
